We leave Salem early Tuesday AM and fly out of PDX to Chicago to London Heathrow to Barcelona, arriving Wednesday at noon (nine hours ahead of PDT), so the first ...

The 36 Pit Fire started two weeks ago in fairly remote area southeast of the town of Estacada. Estacada is almost directly opposite the mighty Mt. Hood from our location. ... all day. There was a pickup Frisbee game downtown, so I went and played, which felt great to get out and play again. After I got back, Matt and I went downtown again to get some food and a better tour of the area. We had some great Mexican food and went into the biggest book store I have ever seen. It takes up a whole block of a street. Besides the rain, today was a lot of ...

... the Gulf of Alaska and spun around gathering up moisture. Well, well, lookie what I found, the storm said to itself. A bloomin' typhoon! Typhoon Pabuk slid passed the Japanese Isles and headed north, losing intensity the farther north it went. What it didn't lose is a lot of moisture. It incorporated into the large Alaskan storm which now became a mega storm. Rain to 10" has been predicted for the coastal mountains and Cascades with 4" in the valleys. Winds ...
