We left Seaside about 9:00 and drove back to Portland so we could pick up Elizabeth at the Convention Center at 1:00. We got there a little early and went to the Lloyd Center for some shopping and lunch. We decided to take Elizabeth to see the waterfalls we had seen a few days earlier.
We then drove down to see Mt. Hood. We drove up to...
Elizabeth wanted to go shopping at the Woodburn Outlet Mall south of Portland. We walked around the mall and bought a few things. We drove up to Vancouver, Washington and decided we would ride up to Mount St. Helens Lahar Viewpoint,
We stopped and made a few photos of Mt. St. Helens and then drove to Ape Cave. This is a lava tube from a...
We made it to Portland! The drive through Idaho was gorgeous, Washington wasn't so bad either. But the drive through Oregon was breathtaking! We had dinner with our friends Lulu and Eric, and watched the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Afterwards, we were pretty worn out, so we went to our hotel, and got ready for Hawaii!

We are planning our 2010 big adventure to Europe, flying into Munich and seeing where the road takes us for 8 days. We will definitely get to Switzerland, perhaps a day in Salzburg, and who knows ??? We'ell be traveling with our good friends from San Diego...

Off to the bus station to get a grehound to Portland. I had heard good
things about Portland so was looking forward to see what it had to
offer. After a short walk from the bus station we were in the centre
of downtown to enjoy a coffee and work out suitable accomodation. It was
here we met up with Graham and Lauren, a young coup...
On Tuesday, the doubletree housed the Green Professionals Conference. This had been my primary reason for selecting said hotel and it worked out wonderfully as I could take my time eating breakfast, which was provided free at the conference, putter around, check my email ,register and smooze. I had the privilege of attending a mixer the night pr...

Portland, Oregon, is one of our favorite destinations for a weekend getaway. It is not a large city, but big enough for our tastes and is beautiful and vibrant.
Portland has a highly functional Metro, and its easy and cheap (just over $2) to get into the heart of the city directly from PDX airport. The airport is modern and very functi...
We're out of Idaho (with no burning desire to return) and through the yellowed-grass small towns of eastern Oregon (no great need to drive this section of I-84 again either). As we head north, our freeway abuts the Columbia River, and the scenery becomes green again. Around mid-day, we pull into the little town of Hood River, about an hour from ...

Portland, Oregon, United States allobr2:50 pm So, I'm used to travelling, right. I mean, my mom is a travel agent, and I've been taking planes and going on road trips since I was about 4. So there's nothing new there. Except for the fact that this time, I'm alone. Yelp. It's not that I'm scared or anything or that I don't know what to do or how an airport and customs work. But I ten...
