We're wrapping up a very low-key and relaxing weekend which is a very good thing. I have to go to both Kansas City and Seattle this week and then we will leave next Saturday. It has been an unusually hot summer for us, in combination with the fourth year of drought and this weekend was no exception...except that it was exceptionally hot! ...

We headed into San Francisco again today for another (the last!) baseball game. Helen and Tom joined this time too. ... we squashed our bags and suitcases into the back of the coach and headed for Fishermans Wharfs to collect our coach buddies. We discovered they were the Australian girls and so a pleasant hour was spent chatting to them. The doors opened and the heat hit us, to the hilarity of the Aussies. We were right by our campsite and soon discovered a pile of kit with our name on it. We pitched our tents and gazebo and soon girls ...

We both slept in. It is Sunday 22 March and Russell told us about the Oakland Marathon today. He will be running. It's morning and I look out the window. There are police cars blocking our street, in readiness for the runners. I spend some time checking emails and looking on Facebook when I hear some noises outside. I look out the window again and I can see the runners coming through the side street. It was getting late and the day is getting away from us. We ...
