Hallowe'en is... overwhelming. I think that's the best word for it.

We actually started on Friday, with pumpkin selection and carving. I couldn't believe how many pumpkins were available to choose from! It's a very serious business, with templates and specific pumpkin-carving tools available everywhere. We took a bit of advice from the experts on which pumpkins to select and headed back to the house. I picked one of the easiest ...

Arriving in Los Angeles and the US Brodies

I have never been so happy to get off an aeroplane as I was at Los Angeles International Airport. I got precisely zero sleep.

The final flight was great -- especially surprise middle-of-the-night sliders that came around between lunch and breakfast (flying across a ton of timezones is weird).

Today is Presidents' Day which is officially a federal holiday. Everything apart from the government offices seems to work normally, and a few of the galleries and museums are free for this one day. That said we headed for LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). We arrived just before opening like good English tourists. Worked out how to street park and use the new fangled satellite meters. The museum has lots of beautiful collections of objects and art donated by the great ...

    Day 2 in Hollywood

... snapshots, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We then found William his Giants hat. We were still a little tired so we just had dinner at the hotel and had a wonderful Mexican server called Miguel. We ate dinner and then got a chocolate fudge brownie to bring back and enjoy. That's all for today, we have a big day planned at San Diego Zoo tomorrow and I need some more rest. Until next ...
