    ... was able to drive on campus without a pass, but now visitors are allowed. We found a good on-street, pay parking spot near Gordon Hall so that was were we started our tour. Gordon has been upgraded quite a bit since Philip lived there. It houses students in the Honors College now. Almost every window had the same "Sun's Up, Gun's Up" poster in the window. ...

    ... along throughout the night, but Paul invited people to sing on two songs. I had not heard of one of them before. It was based on a phrase he and his childhood friends would chant during a game. He taught the audience the chorus, and we sang along like we'd known it forever. "Queenie eye, Queenie eye who's got the ball? I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket. O-U-T spells out." Something like that.

    Day started at 0430, not out of necessity, but anticipation. Dishes washed and put away, showered and dressed, sitting on front porch awaiting our ride to Lubbock. Mr. And Mrs. B arrive in a luxury SUV to ferry us in style. Lunch, of course, at Cracker Barrel, where we consumed our last green chili for the next month. Arrived at the airport well ahead of time only ...

    ... as well. We had wonderful conversations, and their home is simply lovely, and we had a comfortable bed to sleep in. Unfortunately we had to get an early start the next morning, but it was a great stop along the way. And as we headed out of town we took the time to see a few of the local historical sites, and can honestly say besides great folks, there ARE things to do and see in Lubbock.

We were still tired though after the ride because the weather was so hot and dry, felt good reaching Muleshoe as we knew the next day we would cross into New Mexico a place that seemed so far away when we were back in Austin. That night we bought steaks and milkshakes to get the calories and protein on board, the steaks were ***** as we burnt them in our little portable cooker, we tried!!!
