      On October 11th, we transitioned to Jacksonville, FL. We had hoped to get to visit friends Nola and Stuart Davis while we were there, but they were out of town.

      ... of the trip, we were able to deal with these obstacles but when we rounded a wicked bend just south of St. Augustine, things went to hell in a handcart quickly. This particular bend is sufficiently notorious that it is mentioned in several navigation books. We had also heard other boaters talk about it with great respect so we thought we were prepared.
