We began our trip to Oshkosh on Thursday morning. Lunch in Tifton, GA at Hog and Bone Barbeque. Good sandwich - there is also one of these in Waycross. Arrived at the campground around 2 PM after changing to central time zone. Our site is about 20 feet from the edge of the lake. We can watch the boaters from our bedroom window! We'll try to leave early tomorrow since it is another almost 300 mile day. ...
... storm is coming this weekend with a possibility of 4 to 6 inches of rain. We are planning to be hooked up ready to head out again on Fri. if their predictions are true. Hard to imagine two days in heavy rain. Maybe we need to see if we are made of stronger stuff and can figure out how to tough it out.
We need a bird book ... I can't identify some of the birds and ducks! A black duck with a white stripe from the crown of it's head to ...
... Alabama...and I'm pretty sure that 'bama has gators...but AJ said no so we continued to fish.
We moved along the water's edge towards the jetty and decided to head over there once there were only a few people on it. They were reeling in catfish, bream and garfish but AJ wasn't to be outdone...he managed to grab a couple of striped bass (on an aussie lure too!), one of which ...
... lined with big shady trees and stunning houses (the biggest we've seen so far), and then the hotel right on the Georgia state line. It deserves the "Quality Inn" name it has! $99.00 per night and we're in a king-bed suite with his and hers bathrooms, separate lounge, two TVs, two chez lounge's...amazing. We have a feeling that Eufaula might be the "smokey"...the place we'd never heard of that ends up being our favourite!
After checking in and ...
... we'd have wondered about all the signs, but politically speaking, they were all over the place. And, most candidates had three names, Harri Anne, Billy Bob, etc. Mostly Republican but a smattering of Dems, as well. Guess there's an election coming up.
We are in a beautiful State Park - LakePoint, and have a site on the lake. Just checked my camera and realized I didn't take any pictures today. I'll try to do better tomorrow.
