We'll, we hurried into the Lone Star State trying to beat the Sunday night traffic around Houston, and we almost made it. My, those freeways must get really snotty around rush hours. Don't make any hasty assumptions but my first sight of the Houston skyline was a smog obscured glimpse behind a billboard touting a gun show seen through a rapidly moving wall of semis on I 10. However, I remain duly impressed. This huge megalopolis looks busy and rich. Glad to get by ...

We had two days of bike riding here and spent three nights. I think it was our second day of riding that we saw gators. I had just sent David a text, saying we were hunting for gators, and I looked out on the lake and saw one swimming in. The park really cleared out today with only 3 campers on our loop. Only as we pulled out did I realized that she had returned the payment to me with the receipt! Nice people are everywhere we ...

... on Loop 8 East and headed around the city. I drove slower than usual and it seemed to help. The traffic was tolerable and only one car passed me as I pulled over the line into the lane of my choice. I think that the turn signal must have a different effect on a Texan. They seem to think it's like a gunshot starting a race. We missed that car too, or he missed us. Either way, it turned out fine.

We have arrived at our friends ranch in Sargent Texas. It is located about 80 miles southeast of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. This morning we toured a national wildlife refuge nearby and saw about 15 alligators. Size range from babies to monsters. We have been visiting with the Farrs. They are college friends and have brought ...
