Longwood

... York behind us we drove into Pennsylvania for a day at Longwood Gardens. The skies threatened rain but as we began to walk the grounds the sun broke through and we had perfect weather to explore the acres of gardens. Red t-shirts were everywhere as Phillie Phever sweeps the area.<br> <br>We spent the entire day here, and still missed one section, this is quite a treasure and we will let the photos speak for themselves.<br><br>http://www.longwoodg ardens.org/<br><br>

And So It Begins Shortly!

As I begin to pull the suitcase from the basement and organize my clothes, my thoughts turn to Central America once again. For the fourth time in just over two years, I will return to Central America with Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity and spend a week building, not only homes, but also building relationships with my colleagues.<br><br>In the fall of 2007, I was chosen to be part of the first FRAP (Financial Representative Ambassador ...

Blood at the Bridge

... in the parking lot accepting donors. So, with some initial reluctance, Kelsey and I signed up for an evening slot. Neither of us had given blood before, so we were a little nervous. But Kelsey wanted to give blood, ever since being inspired to do so through some episode of Extreme Home Makeover. And it's been something that I've wanted to do before I die. There's no good non-medical reason not to, right?<br><br ...

The Great Pumpkin Parade!

This [extended] weekend, we're staying in a wonderful little motel--family owned, specializing in extended stays. So we have a little kitchenette, and a separate bedroom. How refreshing it is to say "Hey I'll be in the other room"<br><br>We're in the quaint little Pennsylvania town of Mohnton, and we're staying here just in time for the annual Pumpkin parade!<br><br>It was fun! Peaceful weekend

... it to say that it left plenty to talk about.<br><br>Sunday morning, we found a small country church literally one minute up the road. Those people were the most friendly, welcoming congregation. It's so refreshing to spend time with fellow Christians. Plus, we ate cookies before leaving :)<br><br>After church, we made the miniscule drive back to the hotel and changed clothes for our pre-planned afternoon date. Through some brochures, we found nearby Crystal ...

Day 3... exploring the Dutch Country

... Strasburg, I found a lovely pineapple motif canister for my new house. We also stopped in to browse the Amish Furniture in Strasburg. For a light dinner we went to the Revere Tavern down the road from the RV Park. The property was built in 1740 and was bought by our 15th president in 1854 for his reverend brother to use as a parsonage. Read more at reveretavern.com

In the Amish Country

... the 66 books of the Bible. Interesting isn't i Next stop was to visit an Amish Farm and House. Here another local person explained the lifestyle of the Amish showing us the clothes they wear and the way their houses are furnished inside. She was not An Amish person herself. One of the questions we asked her related as to how the local people were responding to the murders of the Amish school children. She became quite ...

Day 2: The Beauty of Amish Country

... room at 9:00, so at around 9:30 Aunt Stacy and Alison squished into the car with us and we headed back to the resort.  It wasn't a big deal since the hotel was right down the road. When we got back to the Lincoln Host Resort, Alison took a bath and changed into her pajamas.  Then Mike, Alison, dad and I watched "The Ring" in our room.  I kept telling Mike to shut it off since Alison shouldn't watch it, but then Alison would scream, "No, I LOVE this movie!" even though she had ...
