... three hour drive into New Orleans so we should be there by noon. Our campsite is very nice. Has water and electrical outlets right next to the picnic table and even has a shower in the bathroom. I'm a little confused about how Louisiana handles the finances of their parks because we had to drive on a dirt road to get to the park but when we got here the bathrooms were air conditioned. I'm not complaining though because with the humidity I will take any air conditioning I can ...
After a light shower overnight (we stayed dry), today was absolutely perfect. We relaxed all day, doing our own little things. Sherry read her book on a float in the water, Debby laid on her lawn chair in the sun, and I went for a long walk exploring the campground. We had grilled pork chops (not squirrel) for dinner, with wild rice, and French cut green beans with sautéed onions and mushrooms. Earlier this afternoon, while driving with the windows down, I turned around ...

We tried to do it yesterday, but the woman there said that they couldn't do it until the day of the night of the extended stay. Whatever that means... Sounds like a government plan to me. With that done, however we started our hike on the Nature Trail right near the "Smokey Bear" sign ...
Our drive yesterday was only about a hundred fifty miles, but the confusion for the last several miles made it longer. We got a start, early, late, no matter in the morning and headed through Jasper, TX quickly, since it's so small. The highways varied from nice four laners to narrow, shoulderless pathways. In Texas, they have frequent Picnic Areas, which are great for lunching, or just for a break. The sign shows up at a mile beforehand. However, it ...
