... The girls all fell asleep and Tad and I enjoyed the quiet drive. We checked into the Waco Hilton, right across the street from Baylor, dropped our stuff in the room and hit the restaurant. In the lobby area, a big group of parents and boys in baseball caps were watching a replay of a Little league playoff game. The food was great and we were back in the room and in bed by 11:30, 9:30 our time. Good night's sleep and Austin ...

      More rock... But underground

A travel blog entry by guernsey-girl on Jun 27, 2014

... to hide from the heat in a Dairy Queen... The food was ok, but nothing special. The next shop we tried was a success and we managed to get stocked up for the next few days. By the time we reached our camp site for the night the wind had really set in and putting up the tents was a struggle and a half!bed went for a quick dip in the pool before the cooking group starting prepare dinner. The wind did not make it easy for them! Meanwhile myself, Alex, Alice, Ollie ...

For some reason, I always forget how green Texas (especially central Texas) truly is. Maybe it's because I lived in North Carolina for 5 years, where the constant, unexpected-but-not-that-unexpected rain compels one to always be aware of the verdant Carolinian landscape. It doesn't rain quite so much in Texas, and despite the fact that I've lived here for 18 years, I'm always somewhat surprised by the miles and miles of greenery surrounding the less well-traveled parts of I-35.

... This was supposed to be huge caves that sit 800ft underground. And so it was. Again, the drive to the park had the most amazing scenery and we just kept mouthing 'wow' around every bend and over every hill. When we were around 20 minutes away, we followed the large bends in the roads and suddenly, we were surrounded by very high rock faces; driving through a valley of cliffs. The surroundings evened out and the road started to hold an upwards gradient which ...

      Beautiful weather for one day

A travel blog entry by clara.sayre on Mar 13, 2014

Today's weather was beautiful. Just absolutely beautiful. We had a 90 mile jump to Marlin this morning and as soon as we were set up, we took a nap in order to function the rest of the day. We don’t normally have time to take naps so when we can, we take full advantage of it. Armando, Cristian, Daniel, and Arwen were practicing a horse riding act in the ring, so we slipped into the bleachers to watch a little bit. I’ve ...
