A travel blog entry by mtowle on Jul 25, 2013

Today we hit Yosemite National Park. It was large and beautiful, green and rocky. And it was also a very long drive. Almost 3 hours, much of that within the park. We stopped quite a few times to take pictures, and then we got to drive on some of the restricted roads with Grandpa's handicap pass. We stopped off at a small liquor store on the way home to price their rum. This store had some of the oldest stuff I've seen for sale in a long time. Old bottles of Crisco I haven't seen from the 70's. Products I'm not even sure exist any more. We saw an old bottle of booze. Champagne perhaps. It was $30 but seems like maybe it's worth a lot more.

My dear friend insisted I join her for lunch and entertain some friends and ofcourse...shopping for that dress. Atlast....we are on our way home but I have to pick up the wedding cake. My duty to the grooms mother. I made it home, barely resting to rush over to my aunts home to help her with decor, sweets and whatever loose ends. Its Sunday morning and ...

Almond Blossoms of the Central Valley

A travel blog entry by alhambramd on Mar 21, 2008

Along the topic of almonds, I found out since I moved here that 80% of the the world's almonds come from the Central Valley (of which Modesto is the biggest city). The peak blooming period is around February 24-28 give or take 1 week. I think we caught the blooms towards the end of that peak period... Basically I went online to google for almond blossoms in modesto, and it ...
