They participate in the ceremonial lowering of the flag. It is a great program and we highly recommend you include it if you visit Mount Rushmore. We finally arrived at Mt. Rushmore. You have to be amazed at the vision & skill that were necessary to carve out such an enormous sculpture on a cliff face. The fact that it was done between the years 1927-1941 with no fatalities or serious injuries is almost unbelievable. The temp was around 90 today so we didn't hike the President's Trail.
