What a difference a day makes. Went to bed at 65 degrees in Savannah, and woke up to drizzle and 41 degrees. There is a major winter storm warning in effect. We cannot get north of Interstate 20 because of snow and ice. So we went west to Macon, Georgia, then continued west along old country roads. It was awesome. Hardly any traffic and beautiful scenery and old homes. Outside of Macon, we took a detour and went to McIntyre, Ga. We stopped in front of Honey Boo Boo's house! Definitely ...
Clear roads...a few stranded cars near Birmingham from their ice storm.... Tons of sand on the road from the Southern panic re snow/ice. But we drove uneventfully from Nashville to Montgomery and are all feeling good. Warm, incredible place to stay at the Staybridge suites...healthy food- Chipolte and Earth Fare health ...

Route 16 which cuts off the Atlanta corner between Augusta and Montgomery, was my only road relief. Otherwise I was riding the 'slab' as motorcyclists refer to Interstate highways, down I 77 to Columbia, I 20 through Augusta, and then I 85 from south of Atlanta to Montgomery. But all was not lost.
