... pretty quickly.
It was a pretty uneventful day; traveling through Ohio and Indiana isn’t too exciting. We stopped in Effingham, IL, which is about 100 miles east of St. Louis. We were able to get a “buddy site” at this campground and had a great dinner; BLTs and corn on the cob.

We went up to the door and knocked and got no answer - but we could hear what we thought was a motor running inside - which we thought was strange, as they are not supposed to use electricity. Happy birthday to my love and my favorite clown, John! We celebrated after the show with wine, junk food, and four episodes of "Girls". A very lovely day which would have only been lovelier if we could have spent it with friends and family back home. But everyone sent John wonderful birthday greetings throughout the entire day, so I know we weren't far from people's thoughts. :)
We were met by Stella an expert on the Amish this morning for a tour around the Amish country. She explained the Amish way of life and pointed out many of their homes.
First stop was Millers Dry Goods....an Amish store that sells all sorts of fabrics, nic nacs and haberdashery. Lucky us.....they were having a sale!!!! Fabrics ranged fro $3-$8 yard. I didn't buy much there. ...
... where her husband gave a little talk on modern quilting. Weeks is already at Paducah so we'll visit the booth when we go to the show. Next was a visit to the Field Museum in Chicago and lunch before boarding the bus for the three hour drive to Tuscola. Here we went to Flessor's Candy Kitchen for dinner....what a great place to visit. Good home ...
