August 7th, Trip Day minus 1;
Well, after many months of preparation we leave on our summer adventure first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can keep this blog interesting enough to get you all to keep coming back. As you'll quickly find out, Mary and I love food so this blog will more than likely gravitate to our food adventures. When my oldest daughter Heather was younger she actually nicknamed us the "Food Family". I'm sure we ...
Although we don't take off on our adventure for another week, today begins the official preparation. I checked my new camera for compatibility with my computer and looked into starting this blog. So far so good.
The idea for this trip started almost on a whim. My wife Mary and I decided, since we were now retired, we could go almost anywhere we wanted on a driving trip with only the most rudimentary schedule and all ...
... entertained by an adorable otter for over 10 minutes, though he scarpered when we came within a couple of meters. The rest of the trip was much the same, but a 10 minute downpour as we finished naturally kept things interesting. Oddly enough we returned to juniper springs, for a dip in a swimming hole, before returning to the hotel before the weather got nasty.
... Thunder Bay. No way I can go from mid 80 degree temperatures to snow! We also saw Michael toddling around trying to get Daisy among other things. Today was Heather's last day of work. Her contract is up. It's too bad she wasn't able to join us in Florida.
Tonight's dinner was Stone Crab Claws followed by chicken/mango/strawberry salad on the lanai. Not too shabby for a final scratch dinner before we head home.
... to a Villages pool. It wasn't too crowded when we first arrived but started to fill up later this aft. The water was certainly perfect.
Tonight it's one more tour around the markets at Sumter Landing before we dig into the leftovers that need to eaten before we leave. Saw an alligator stalking a heron, cormorant and egret today. The Palmer course always seems to have them - alligators that is.
