    ... where we picked out a canoe! A red headed guy who was seriously proud of being an Air Force vet (a young vet, and a linguist) drove us down the river and let us off. It was a beautiful sail.     ... you what a popular place they are, that there's so much extra being built. Also very religious. There's a basilica right beside the dome and a recreated Lourdes grotto behind that. Everyone prays. Mary and Moses are everywhere. The painting on the inside ceiling of the dome is Mary ascending into heaven (no toenails), and the point on the top of the dome is not a point.     ... route, and we had to get off the train at some stop near the Indiana Dunes and get on a pile of buses to different destinations. It was actually nice to see the road for a while, which is wooded and pretty, not rusty and industrial like the railway.
