The first time I road through Troy, PA, I was traveling by minivan on Rt. 6 (a nice ride in itself). It was nice to see the town again. It's a pretty town in northern PA. The one thing that amazed me about Troy are the number of old, fancy houses. Given the surrounding areas and no obvious signs of industry, the town appears to have had an affluent past and a seemingly healthy future.
Just that. Nothing special. Stopped at a convenience store, bought a bottle of water and gave a couple cub scouts who were doing a fund raiser a few dollars. Trying to decide whether I want to spend another night on the road or save money and ride the rest of the way home. Skies are a mix of sun and large dark clouds in the distance. When the sun isn't shining it's a little cool --- high today is only around ...
... wind which I was told is not good for Gliding. Good wind ensures that the glider is in the Air for a longer Duration.
There is also an amusement park closeby where children can enjoy, and you also get to see a Big Golf Course, with people trying their shots.
Overall a nice place if you are passing by Elmira, or are visiting Watkins, to add to the places to visit. I doubt anyone would like to travel 4-5 hours to just visit this place.
... many with elaborate platforms on top so nothing will be missed. Let's not forget to mention the tailgating - these fans are serious about their racing! It seems we've been here a lot longer than a month and can't believe that its time to journey on from this mountain town with all the junctions. We've made a lot of friends who have helped us feel welcome. It makes it hard to leave. I feel like it's the end of summer camp and time to go home :( Stay tuned for more ...
... veterinarian works out of his home, with no computer in sight and old school file cabinets. It's where people still write checks at the grocery store and say hello even though they don't know who the you are :) We're both road weary and right now are planning to base here for a few months. I'm enjoying the peacefulness of the woods, trying to sneak up on chipmunks and even the freaking bird that sounds like a dying pac man arcade game. Hope all is well with everyone. Bye for now ...
