Calgary --> NYC

After some delay and a long 5 hours flight, we finally arrived at NYC. Subway is a bit confusing, but at about 9 pm, we arrived at the hotel. Quite a decent hotel, room a bit small, but it's newly renovated. BTW, the clerk charged us the wrong price (hope this is only accidentally, not purposely). Good that my husband found this out and the clerk readjusted the price. After unloading the luggage, we went out to explore. So surprise Time Square is only one block away! Busy & flashy, lots ...

NYC - Second Day

Start with continental breakfast at hotel, nothing fancy, just toast & bagels. Head out to purchase the New York Pass, it's located in a building near Times Square. After that, decided to walk to MOMA, on the way we came across a building with the famous skating rink, Oh, it's the Rockefeller Center. The skating rink is very small, not like that on TV! Moma's modern art is not that exited as classic art, and the audio is boring. Oh, I forgot to mention that we came across St. Patrick Cath...

NYC - Third Day

We decide to visit the Statue of Liberty today, Almost an hour line-up, not for boarding the ship but for passing through security check. Finally, we board the ship, first to Liberty Island, The statue is quite impressing. We didn't go up, just took some pictures around. Our next stop is Ellis Island. This is the gateway to US for all European immigrants at the start of the 20th century. The museum on the island with audio tour is amazing! Pictures with detail descriptions gave us a very viv...

NYC - Fifth Day

Get up a bit early to catch the bus to Premium Outlet. Took about an hour to get there, lots of brand name stores but not much excitement. We did purchase some stuff at our usual stores (Timberland, Northface). You should see people pulling their luggage around, crazing shoppers! Plan to spend only a few hours, took the bus at 3:30 and assumed will arrive back to NYC at around 4:30. Serious traffic jam near the Lincoln Tunnel! We end up arriving at our hotel at 6 pm. Decide to try the Chinese...

NYC - Sixth Day

Visit Central Park Zoo, even though it's small, the animals & environment give me peace & serenity. After that we walk across Central Park & reach the Natural History Museum, it's huge with lots of display. But because we are quite tired with Eveready's walking, it's just quite boring to us. Still, we've spend a few hours there. Then we visit Macy's, the largest department store in the world. It has 9 floors, two sections, half of the building for men, half for ladies. We are just...

NYC - Fourth Day

Book a tour at Federal Reserve. When we exit the nearest subway station, we found St. Paul's Chapel. This was the famous church that was untouched during the 911 attack. Inside there were a lot of stories and memories of that particular day and after. Very touching, moves me to tears! Then we visited the Federal Reserve, this is the place where money is made and other countries store their gold here in the underground vault. Very impressing! We even got shredded old money for souvenir. A mish...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Comfort Inn Times Square New York City

Location, location, location!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from a wonderful three day week-end in New York where we stayed with two other couples at the Comfort Inn Midtown.....it was a fabulous place! Though our room was quite small with a tiny bathroom (w/tiny shower), it was immaculate. The other two rooms were larger and also very clean and all were tastefully decorated. You can't beat the location....walking distance to Times Square, theaters, restaurants, etc....and the price was very reasonable. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. All of us would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's not luxury, but for the budget minded traveler, it's perfect.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

This is everything you can ask for in a mid-town NYC hotel (assuming you do not want/need luxury): Clean, quiet, comfortable, and affordable. Just steps from the action of Times Square. I will make this hotel my first choice when traveling to NYC in the future.

Great place-close to Time Square

from Bunni29
I recently stayed at the Comfort Inn Midtown in New York. It's a wonderful place.........First off, I was going to stay at the Marriott Marquis on Time Square, but I saw the reviews on the Comfort Inn Midtown and it sounded wonderful. And Wonderful it was....it was very clean, VERY close to Time Square......maybe a short half of block or less.........and there you are right in Time Square. My room was a little small, but not bad...........we had a king bed with a nice size bathroom and a walk in closet.............The furnishings were all new and up to date........and very clean and nice. It was nicely decorated.............Believe me I am very very picky and do not like to stay in bad places and I very glad that I chose this hotel to stay in..............first off I saved a lot of money staying at this hotel instead of the Marriott. The Comfort Inn Midtown may not have all the glamour and glitz as the Marriott Marquis, but it's still very nice............and it's sooooooooooo close to everything.........there are several restraurants literally right across the street and next door to the Comfort Inn Midtown............chinese, steak and seafood, etc....I would stay there again in a heartbeat and suggest to anybody to stay there.............A great place for a great price.............you are literally right there on Time Square--just a few steps a way.............The staff was very nice and helpful..........I had a great stay and recommend it highly.take care

Best Value in NYC

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel the night of September 20. This is a fantastic hotel for the budget minded traveler who wants to be in the center of the action. this hotel is half a block away from Times Square, TKTS and the Marriot Marquis...Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful. Save your money for the rest of your NYC trip and still have a great midtown place to stay.

Best Value for your money

The Comfort Inn Midtown is a great little hotel. Location was the best.

The place was immaculately clean and the staff was very helpful. We had a very early flight into New York and got to the hotel at 10 a.m. the staff took care of our luggage and told us to go out and enjoy the day, our room will be ready when we got back. The continetal breakfast was great (bagels, fruit, cereal, juice, assorted breads, doughnuts) We would bring it back to our room and finish getting ready. This saved us time so we could get out and explore early. There was no other restaurant on the premises but you are close to hundreds within a few minutes. The rooms are small and decorated to make it feel comfortable and cozy but we did not spend a lot of time in our room. The bathroom was very nice clean and lots of water pressure in the shower. I read a review about someone getting charged more for a taxi to the airport when the Comfort Inn ordered a cab. That was not the case for my daughter and I. The hotel got us a taxi to go to LGA and we were charged (including toll) $24. plus a tip. I do not think they have any connections with the cab company. I think that person who wrote that review just had a bad experience with one employee/cab. Our room was $107. So if you are not looking for the ritz and glamour this is hotel is a perfect find.

Clean

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is located right in the middle of time square so you can walk to the theatre or even to central park & fifth ave. The room was small but it was pretty clean. We got a great rate using AAA (they do check your AAA card) average $100 per night. Parking is extra though, $20/day. i guess reasonable by NYC standards. I would stay here again.

Great Hotel, great location

from Sauble06
Stayed here based on reviews from several sources..and would do so again, without hesitation.. The location is great, 1/2 block from Times Square, the room/bathroom was clean and adequate for 4. Kids stay free, and breakfast is complimentary.. Found the staff at the desk to be friendly and helpful. Parking is across the street and cheaper than most lots in New York. Had some difficulty with the in-room internet...but other than that, we enjoyed our stay in New York very much thanks to the Comfort Inn Midtown.. Would, (and have), recommend it to friends!

A Bright Light in the Blackout

from A TripAdvisor Member
We arrived at the Comfort Inn Midtown just at the beginning of the blackout 8/14/03. We were allowed to check in our rooms (other hotels didn't allow their guests into their rooms) and were very thankful that we didn't have to sleep in the streets of Times Square like thousands of other tourists. The management was up all night trying to help everyone - they set up a battery so we had a light and radio in the lobby. The power came back 8:00 am the next morning, and we couldn't believe that they were serving continental breakfast! Although there was no hot water for another day & a half (due to the city not providing the hotels enough steam), the rooms were cleaned each day and clean towels (new ones) were provided.

It might not be the fanciest place, but the location is perfect right off Times Square, it's very clean, and all personnel were extremely helpful and friendly. What could have been a miserable weekend turned out to be an interesting adventure. The Super Shuttle is available to/from the airports, there's a computer to check email, add a very reasonable price, and the Comfort Inn Midtown is a bargain in all ways.

Comfort Inn...Will stay here again!

from trig73
After doing much research online, I finally settled for the Comfort Inn Midtown for my mother, 5 y/o daughter and I to stay on our 4 day NYC adventure. It was updated, clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The BEST part was the location. We were right in the heart of everywhere exciting in Times Square. It's exactly what I was looking for and I'm glad I took the time to research and find the perfect hotel. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel itself so we didn't mind that the room was fairly small for what we were used to but the price was wonderful for the location ($107/night) which included a decent continental breakfast. I will definately stay here next time!

Comfort inn review

Comfort Inn was a great location and it was clean and neat. The only problem I had was when they offered to order a cab for me and they lied saying the cab fare to LaGuardia airport was more than coming to the city. They told me the cab fare would be $38 and I got a yellow cab for $25. They have connections with a cab company that rips their customers off and the hotel must get a kick back. I think this is very bad for their paying customers. I liked staying there but please don't take advantage of their cab, suttle serv or entertainment--they rip you off.
