Not a very exciting travel day. Beautiful warm weather through Oklahoma and Missouri.
We even saw gasoline for $2.99 a gallon for the first time this trip! We haven't been stopping to sightsee on the way out as we have been on this Route 66 before. Our sightseeing will be in Utah.

... we passed into the state of Oklahoma, which was our tenth state on this trip. We have also logged over 5,000 miles. We continued along I-40 with a stop in Clinton to visit the Route 66 Museum. The museum showed how the growth of the auto industry lead to a need for roads, and as more people purchased cars and traveled,gas stations, restaurants, and motels popped up along the route. We got into camp in time to watch the sunset, have a shower and dinner. It was a nice looking, small park from what we could see in the fading light. It was only intended as an over night stop anyway so as long as it had power and showers that's all we where worried about. We watched the sunset from the safety of Rupert becasue the bugs where in force outside. ...

One stop we just had to make was "Pops" located just outside Oklahoma City decided to have an early dinner there and while we were eating tornado warnings came across the TV for Oklahoma City so..... we got out of dodge and headed west and couldn't find a place to stay on Rt66 and that is why we are here instead of a cute little motel. ...
