      ... There was a statue on the waterfront that fascinated me - but no information about it there - I looked it up and discovered it was brand new - only unveiled in February this year! It represents various groups of people prominent in the history of cannery row, with Steinbeck at the top.       ... for petrol along the way...very strange sites in some neighbourhoods...people who are off their face, shady characters, a guy in a tutu walking the streets..think there was a fetish parade on today..in the happier part of town. When we got back we scored a car park ..bonus, then went down the street and had a yummy Thai dinner. And to top off a perfect day I had a spa bath...very nice.       Monday, Sept 16 - We got up early to do a trial run with Wanda for taking Lilly to school. Boy, do you forget how busy and quick kindergarteners can be! We have to arrive a little early so Lilly can play with her friends - they are all kindergarteners but some of them are not in her room - so when it is time to go to class, they say "See you at lunch!" ...
