Monday morning, we woke up and broke camp. After breakfast, we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway from NC-181 and starting heading southbound towards Crabtree Falls. About half-way there, we made a quick stop for pictures from Heffner Gap Overlook and then proceeded to Crabtree Falls. Sadly, the campground was closed as well as all the other amenities, likely due to budget ...

... a route to rock-hop across. We then followed Raider Camp Trail up a series of switchbacks and took a spur trail to the cliff overlook for South Harper Creek Falls. This is the only spot where you can see both the upper and lower portions of the waterfall and get a good idea of the complete size of this waterfall. It’s hard to get a good picture, though. The ...

Today we drove many hours to Secluded Valley RV Campground in Newland, NC.
So that means we drove through Va., Ky., and into N.C.! What should have been 5 hours was a bit longer. Our GPS on our phones kept giving us different info, then they would reset themselves and send us in the opposite ...

... It starts out quite easy, a continuation of the forest road, but gets progressively harder. In about a half-mile, there’s another primitive camping spot and then it starts to become more like a trail. This trail was also a bit overgrown with poison ivy and stinging nettle, but we were determined to make it to the waterfall. After a while, the trail becomes very narrow and steep as it hugs the cliff ...
