Well, it's a good thing that we rain-proofed the tent by putting up our giant tent-covering tarp (we tie it to trees, so it doesn't drape over the tent and cover the air vents), even though the hourly weather forecast suggested 0% chance of rain until 4 a.m. and then 5% chance. In the end, we got to the campground at about 6:45, only to have to drive back into town (only 2 miles) to get firewood, as they don't sell it in the park. We ate dinner at 9:30, but we ate it—fire roasted sweet potatoes and grilled salmon with mango-tomato-jalapeno salsa. It was quite delicious.

We are getting used to be the first ones up now. We had a fairly quiet morning as Kyle being a university student doesn't rise from bed until noon, and Cheryl enjoys sleeping in and wasn’t up until 10am.

A slow start to our day, but ...

... so pretty to see. Highway 81 has been nice, lots of places to stop for gas and to stretch my legs. I stopped late this afternoon for the day in a town called Kingsport Tn. It is just 12 miles south of Bristol VA/TN. About 4 hours to go to get to Nashville. ...
