... it all looks Art Deco but I'm not sure it can be that old. Maybe tomorrow we will get to see the old part of town that the book talks about. Had dinner in the hotel as it's still so cold outside and watched a bit of the superbowl while we ate our pork with potatoes & beans (a $6.95 Super Bowl special). An old couple there were from Seattle but unfortunately for them the New England Patriots beat their Seattle ...

... a while since they were in business. It's sad to see these mom and pop shops and hotels crumbling down. I guess when interstate 40 went in, folks could travel faster and stopped taking route 66. Small town America gone.

Today we drove Route 40 from Amarillo, TX across Oklahoma to Alma, Arkansas. The scenery was about the same in each state - range lands for cattle - until we got to Arkansas. There, the Interstate was lined with trees and the divider in the middle was green grass. Nice to see green again, but now there are no vistas to admire. The old Route 66 weaves in and out ...

Woke up in the morning around 8:00am, or at least Shane did. I stayed snuggled in the comfort of our tent until around 09:00am until I was ready to face the day. Shane had already got himself a cup of coffee and went and paid for our campsite since we got in too late the night before to check in. The state park had a little food cart (wait are we still in Portland?), so we grabbed some breakfast there. Biscuits and gravy for us both. We sat at the picnic table and enjoyed our ...

Well, today we stayed on Route #9, off the major highways, as is our plan. You see a lot more, that's for sure. But I felt like... ****? ...hell? ....like Linsay Lohan in rehab? like landing in a maximum security prison with Bubba?....don't know, just struggled. Usually I'm energetic, funny, full of sage observations (subject to other opinions), but today, somebody please SHOOT ME! Tomorrow, I'll bounce back.

    Not much to report ...
