We left Rapid City early, and spent the day on the freeway. I regret not taking a detour into the Badlands, but decided when we passed the Harley Davidson shop that if I were to own a Harley dealership, the "Badlands" shop would be the one.

Today we drove through all of south Dakota. We stopped and saw Mount Rushmore and drove through the badlands. A GREAT first day!!

I got in around 6:30 p.m., checked into my hotel, grabbed a visitor guide and went up to my room, fully expecting to find a bar and have a few cocktails.
