    On Tuesday 4/8, we left and headed for Slidell, LA where we will be staying three nights at the Pine Crest RV Park while we visit New Orleans. As we cross the mighty Pontchartrain the rain scours us with its baptism welcoming us fully cleansed into the arms of the great city. It began to wash away my own fears that this city might not indeed hold the charm of its past. The true soul of the city cannot be washed away in the storm. It can only be cleansed and born anew.     ... found this Best Western Bayou to be very clean, well decorated, and above standards. After changing our clothes we approached the front desk to ask about parking in the French Quarter. The concierge told us to go for the free parking since it was after six. He directed us into the French Quarter and told us to weave up and down the streets until we found a spot, just make sure you obey all parking signs.     ... picked out, but they didn't have any vacancies, so we continued down the road about half a mile to New Orleans East Kampground (no not a KOA). Anyway, they had a few vacancies so here we are. It was a little tight getting into the site since the ground is very wet and we didn't want to get stuck, but the sites are narrow and packed gravel and the owner/managers are very nice.
