We started a campaign swing through northeast and north central Nebraska this morning at that fine establishment, followed by an interview with the Pender Times.

What a crowd at the South Sioux City Chamber of Commerce banquet!
The room was packed, and the handshakes were plentiful.
Really enjoyed meeting so many people and exchanging ideas about business prospects and political issues.
They sure made me feel right at home.
Nebraska shares its eastern border with Iowa along the MissouriRiver, so as we travelled northwards up I-29 we actually went northward by way of Iowa. We saw lots and lots of farmland, but, of course, the corn and soybean crops have all been harvested ...
... Although I eventually outran that line of storms the skies never cleared again and it was cloudy with drizzle from that point on. Unfortunately, just north of Omaha when I crossed into Iowa those storms caught up to me. The last hour of driving, in heavy rain on a dark road, was quite unpleasant. Many prayers were offered and, obviously, I finally arrived safely. Over 600 miles covered today!

... find a Geocache. I chose the cache you see in the pictures because it's right over the border and is an interesting location as well as a quality container. Now this was supposed to be a "quick grab", but needless to say I made it much harder than it should have been (it was hidden literally in plain sight), and 25 minutes and quite a bit of mud (from last night's rain) on my shoes later, plus having to find my reading glasses which I later discovered ...
