The New Zealand part of our journey started with a great flight on Air New Zealand (We managed to fly first class here as well). The wine flowed, and the food was amazing. Then my friend Alex came and picked us up in his loud fast car and drove us around - we got an ice cream and saw the Auckland skyline lit up for one last time. Now we are off to organise our belongings, have a bath, watch some movies in bed and unwind. Much love, The Ellisious ...

... from the walk to the rental car site and then out on the ice I really felt the cold! After that I walked around the aquarium looking at the fish, sting rays, sharks, seahorse and again the penguins. Then it was time to leave and my first port of call was the hotel and a hot shower. Once there though the weather didn't improve so ended up to chilling at the hotel. Cooked myself a lovely risotto for dinner and sat and watched django with a glass of wine...loving ...

... urban area with the lights sparkling and twinkling below, but these were above us. We were impressed that the New Zealand government allows the local Maori to operate the cave. It provides a way for the local tribe members to stay in the area, make a decent living and honor their history and traditions. In fact our guide was at least fourth generation Maori, and her father and mother were married in the cave. We had heard mixed reviews from other people about this site, and we ...
