The New Zealand part of our journey started with a great flight on Air New Zealand (We managed to fly first class here as well). The wine flowed, and the food was amazing. The pods were even better than Air Canada's, the entertainment system worked better, and the gps was easier to use. We hardly had time to watch any tv though, we were too busy …

Dropped off the van and got taxi into Auckland, a very different city compared to anything else we have seen in NZ. A large city that could be anywhere in the world but has a lovely harbour and the Sky Tower. I must agree with friend Geoff and Jacqui, Wellington is a far lovelier city. Managed to do all the washing as the suite has a washer/dryer, had a nice Thai curry and slept in a lovely real bed, one I could get out of from the side - I ...

... and thither and pottering in small towns before a longer walk to end the day, this down to Cathedral Cove, with its arched cavern, white sand and crystal waters. Having got used to the life in a Recreational Vehicle we spent the night at another car park about a 45 minute walk above the Cove. After a few days of dull weather with rain, mainly overnight, thankfully, it seems we could be in for a few days of rain and wind coming up SW from the Antarctic. Could this be the start ...
