... distance was an easy 30km. The hotel we stayed at is called L'ecu de Bretagne, it is rated a 3 star hotel that could easily be a 4 or 5 start rating in North America.  The dinner at the hotel was another epic feast for the eyes, nose, mouth and tongue.  The red wine from the region was outstanding, when first opened you could smell and taste the strong French oak, it then settled nicely 20 minutes after opening and got better after each ...

... didn't appear to be getting anywhere near to anything we remembered. My only hope was that the signs kept saying Gare Sud and I knew we had come out at the north entrance when we arrived. But the bubble of panic was there as we were not sure if it was going to be a completely different train station. Luckily, it wasn't and we made it to the station well within time for the train!

Just after my morning Skype the humming motor noise outside my window stopped. Everything became silent. The power had gone out. Oh dear. I didn't fancy a shower in the dark - the bathroom was very small and pokey and didn't have any windows - so I freshened up using the sink. Breakfast was in the dark.
