Historical Traveler Reviews Comfort Inn San Juan

        Good value; recent renovation.

About the best hotel for the money in this central location. Recent renovation makes this a wise choice. A really friendly, helpful staff. This is my second stay and will return again and again.

        2 star...

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Comfort Inn San Juan. As we first came to the hotel through the one way streets in a taxi who almost took the rear view mirror off a few cars on the way,

the hotel was not at all what I excpected. It looked old and worn down.

As we entered the little gate in our taxi I was a little hesitant to go in.

As we entered the hotel I was surprised to see a nice little lobby. Brenda was very friendly as she checked us all in. We had a group of about 40 people. We were each given a coupon for a free rum drink to use in their bar. We checked into our room which was on the 5th floor. Our room was facing the ocean but we were not high enough up to see over the other hotels that were between the beach and hotel. Our room was very clean. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. We had an extra pillow in the closet which was very large. They have room safe's but you need to go back downstairs to the front desk to get a key and pay a $2 fee. The bathroom did not give us much counter space. Shower was excellent. Our air conditioner worked great. Our room was not at all musty. The room was actually pretty nice. I would say it is a little nicer than a 2 star room. The hotel itself was a little different. The hallways were a little smokey. The elevator took forever to come to the 5th floor. The pool looked nice but we didn't swim. Breakfast was the basic continental. The beach is one block away. Condado area is not much. If you want a little more upscale are try the Isla Verde Area. We tried to use our free rum coupons at thier little hotel bar in the evening. The bartenter who was in high heals did not wait on us. She saw we had the coupons and continued to wait on the paying customers first. She actually missed out on a nice tip since we were not paying for the drink. We finally got our drink after 15 minutes in the smokey bar and needless to say the bartender did not get a tip from us. We only stayed one night pre-cruise at this hotel and it really wasn't to bad for one night. If you are staying any longer I would reccomend a little more upscale hotel with a little better location than the Comfort Inn.

        Comfort Inn...great place and location

A good location and friendly staff, Juan and Brenda do a great job.

My husband and I just got back from PR. We stayed at the Comfort Inn for seven nights. Our reservations were made on-line. We requested a non-smoking king room. Upon arrival we were greeted by Brenda who informed us that because we did not call the hotel directly the type of room we requested was not available. We were given a smoking room on the second floor with two double beds. The room was very clean and there was no clue that it was a smoking room other than the ashtray. The next morning Juan gave us a king non-smoking room on the 5th floor and we were very happy. The rooms are standard size, no frills and just a room, but, the airconditioning was great, the TV was fine and the bed was comfortable, (pillows were not right for me but that is just a matter of individual comfort.) And it was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!!!

The staff was wonderful......Brenda and Juan were very helpful, friendly and informative. Housekeeping was great. We asked for extra towels and pillows and got them in five don't get that at a major hotel!!!!!

The pool is very nice and private. It is in between the breakfast room and the main building so after breakfast hours (7-10) you don't see anyone walking back and forth. There is an ice machine and soda machine right by the pool for your convenience. Poolside chairs are comfortable too!

The breakfast room is very nice with seven tables and a TV. The breakfast is free and we did eat it on several mornings. Toast, hot and cold cereal, juice, coffee and tea. Not alot of variety but who fills your belly for the morning!

The comfort inn is very conveniently located one block from the public bus which will take you to Old San Juan for a quarter..................yes I said twenty five cents. The busses are fine and we never waited more than 10 minutes. On the return trip you could wait up to 40 minutes because it is the first stop and they are on a schedule. If you time it right you could wait 5 minutes.

If you are looking for luxury The Comfort Inn is not the place for you.. If you are looking for a clean, nice place that is cheap then go for it. more thing.....we rented a car for two days and had no problem at all with parking on the street.....but if we had to park at the hotel it would have been 10 dollars a night. They have five spaces available.

If you have any other questions about the hotel or PR please feel free to e-mail me!

Good value for a short stay

Comfort Inn is a good value for a short stay in the Condado section. Hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and casinos at the Wyndam & Marriott. The rooms are clean but small and I agree the staff was very friendly, Juan is great.

        A graet and affordable hotel

The comfort inn was a wonderful hotel for the price. The staff, especially Juan, was very friendly and would go the extra mile to make sure that your stay was pleasant. The rooms were clean, the pool was great, and there are many attractions in walking distance. Also nearby is a bus stop which takes you all around san juan and old san juan for only 25 cents. The hotel is in the heart of condado and I will go back again.

        Great Value

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Pre-cruise and post cruise. From the outside I wasn't very impressed, but for the reasonable rate I said what the heck!!! When my taxi driver opened the door, my impression changed. I saw a lady at desk smiling and welcoming me to Puerto Rico. I said, "Well Thank You!!" She checked us in and gave us room 302 for two nights pre-cruise. The rooms were very clean and accomodating. The TV had all the regular cable stations and the phone usage wasn't expensive.

In the morning I went down to the continental breakfast which consist of corn flakes cereal and raisin bran cereal. They also had toast, orange juice, fruit punch, coffee, tea and water. No fruit or any other breakfast bread but I had toast and cereal and that was fine for me.

The pool starts at 5 feet deep and goes up to 8 feet I believe, and was never crowded. We brought our radio poolside and had our own little pool party.

Upon check out they wished us well on our cruise and told us they looked forward to seeing us when we return.

If you are looking for a great value then the Comfort Inn San Juan is for you.

Brenda and Juan are the front desk associates that provided us with the best service!!!

        Good location and value

The Comfort Inn was a good value. Our room was large and comfortable, and was very well insulated from all outside noises. The location was convenient, but our only problem was finding it. The street address is not very helpful since most maps don't show Clemenceau St. on them, so ask for directions! The two desk clerks that we dealt with, Brenda and Juan, were extremely helpful to us and added to our satisfaction with our pre-cruise stay. The pool was nice, the beach was a short walk away, the complimentary breakfast was minimal, but it was free so what do you expect. We would stay there again.

        Pleasantly suprised

Stayed Feb/04 post cruise. Well worth the money. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location within walking distance of many restaurants and the beach. Bus stops 1/2 block away for only .25 a ride. Not alot of amenitys, but hotel was clean and comfortable just like the name says. I would stay there again.

Good for the price! Only a 'facelift' is needed...

I had a bad impression when I saw the exterior of this hotel but once inside the bedroom my opinion changed. We stayed in room 703 and everything was in good condition and very clean. We were looking for a budget hotel and we got more than we expected for the price. Attention to hygiene seems to rule and although no luxury is present, in or around the hotel, I was very pleased with my stay. Front desk agents were very friendly and housekeeping was exellent. The only negative comments are the following: Parking was very limited and expensive for this type of hotel. The continental breakfast could have been better if some hard boiled eggs were included in the limited variety of edibles. The coffee was horrible but it didn't ruin my two day stay. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The bathroom vanity has very little space to place items, but for this price I'm not going to complain. For the traveler on a limited budget just stopping by for a weekend getaway, I recommend and will come back to the Comfort Inn!

Unfortunately we wound around a little bit, getting distracted by the impressive architecture on every corner and by the time we actually made it to Casa Blanca we were exhausted and sweating ridiculously.
We walked through the open gate to the compound, trying to find someone who could tell us about the tour. Although the ...

We did not get into the Governor's Mansion/Offices as they were being renovated and it was too dangerous to have tourists in there milling about. The gardens were very pretty, though. There were many types of flowers, greenery, and vegetables! The First Lady of Puerto Rico promotes growing your ...

So I went down to reception and requested to get moved to another room, but they told me to wait and someone would come and fix everything. A fellow eventually came in and looked at the safe and simply walked off again without saying anything. Finally, after waiting for someone to show up, I went back to reception to find out what ...
