Headed out from Misawa, Japan to Lewes, Delaware on my Advance Liaison (ADVON) trip, or in others words, advance intel and orientation trip one year out from retirement.
Departed Misawa for SeaTac airport just outside of Seattle, WA. Good flight, but definitely an example of the "Lowest bidder" service.......Atlas Airlines.....thought they only moved cargo, but DoD hires them to move ...
... miles, and yes our butts are sore. We would recommend the route to anyone. Sometimes around major cites like Sacramento, Cincinnati, and Washington, DC, 50 becomes a major highway, but most the time it is road less traveled through the heartland of America.
Next, turn the scooter west and head home through Virginia.
... some of DC's finest restaurants. On Friday we had lunch at Old Ebbit Grill (DC's oldest restaurant), that night we had Indian food at Rasika. Saturday we were busy and had a light lunch at the Smithsonian Castle cafe, and for dinner we ate at Zaytina (Mediterranean).
Sadly after a great meal at Zaytina's, we bid Erin good-bye; her to the bus station, and us to the hotel to get ready for the last leg of Hwy 50. 147 miles to Ocean City, Maryland.
Yesterday our nephew Garrett was guarding the beach right by our house! So we set up right behind the lifeguard chair and enjoyed spending the whole day observing him and the kids and everyone on the beach. It was a great day--storms threatened but rolled by without spoiling our fun. The sun came out from behind the clouds on and off all day. It was a delightful ...
