... I don't have pictures of is driving several miles into the forest on forest service roads and on the way back I got to take my bike out and ride it 8 or so miles down the mountain. What a rush!
So, music, hot springs, lakes, bike rides, kite flying, and just down home relaxing.
Not much to tell about Roseburg and our stay here, although it is a nice little town and the back balcony of our room looked out over the Umpqua River, with accompanying ducks and interesting birds of a sort we don't see in Alabama. We needed to wash clothes and gather our wits before driving to Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, and into California -- so Roseburg is it.
Roseburg, Oregon, United States janemh... even the lining in my motorcycle jacket. Oregon is quite 'flat' the mountains I went through were about 3,000 ft above sea level (Grand Canyon was at 7,000ft). At this level, the fir trees grew right to the top of the mountains. Looking at some of the brochures tthere are some wonderful waterfalls and would be excellent for hiking trips. Pity I do not have time to do this but maybe in my next dream.
Roseburg, Oregon, United States muggeragem... who are also on the road making their way to Canyonville as well. These friends as well as ourselves are members of a RV club called the Pac-Nats and all our us are traveling to various locations in Arizona. We decide that we have to get some groceries prior to our arrival and stop in Roseburg at a Freddy's to get same. Imagine our surprise when another club member finds us in the store and she knew we were here as she recognized our two ...
Canyonville, Oregon, United States shiplingToday was a long drive up towards Vancouver, we planned to drive most of California State, and find accomodation close to the border of CA & Oregon. But a little Jet lag set in, and we were up at about 5 this morning, deciding to finish up and get going. We travelled the interstate 5 the whole way - since that is most direct, and quickest way. The first part of CA was not very interesting, reminding us of ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States sotas... farmland. One of the joys of riding a motorcycle is the fact that you're much more a part of your environment instead of passing through it in an insulated bubble. The varying smells of forest and field add to the enjoyment of the ride. Soon I'm exiting the freeway at Roseburg, winding my way through town and following a road that parallels a stream to my cousins Larry and Marie who live on the top of a hill outside town. Their ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States graybeard... itinerary changes constantly. The thought of actually experiencing the places I have read about seems like a nice daydream..... I am both excited and nervous. I can only aniticipate the experience and cannot wait for the reality of being back in the homeland, a place I have never known but I feel it inside of me somehow. Roseburg, Oregon, United States allobr... growing good grapes. He hopes to have his first crop this fall and I'm sure he'll make very good wine. We spent three days enjoying his and his super companion Gail's hospitality... Mick is a great cook so we enjoyed both his wine and the food both he and Gail prepared. Monday afternoon we did a tour of the area and stopped at a large winery which was very, very nice. We also stopped at a dam in Roseburg and watched the salmon moving up ...
Eureka, California, United States dldementedI know the dates on this are funky, but there you go. Sophia and I left from school on June 26 and headed north. We did really well, except for a little glitch on the grapevine. There was a fire, and the road was down to 1 lane. Oh, did I mention it was 106 degrees outside? I was really worried about Sophia, she even stopped panting. Scott called at exactly the ...
