We drove into Chicago today. Boy are the highways here confusing!!! They tried to hide it from us, but we found it anyway!
We drove up Lake Shore Drive which is the edge of town right on Lake Michigan. The entire coastline is all park and beach. No homes or businesses! It's like the coastal commission came through here and said "Nope, this area is for everyones enjoyment. No one can build here." ...
Well, all the lazing reading and listening to the critters means we had some chores to get done, so today, that is what we did. House cleaning.
As a reward we got to watch the fire flies again tonight AND we got woken up at 2:30 in the morning by a HUGE thunder and lightening storm! Loved it!
Okay, I have dried dozens of times to attach a video of the fireflies, but it just won't work. If it ever does, I will let you know. Sorry.
We took a drive into Rockford today. May I say...BOO! There was one small stretch of land that had some beautiful houses on a lake, but other than that...everything we saw was broken down, run down, empty and trashed. The "highway" runs right through town but we just couldn't get out of there quite fast enough.
We came back to camp and Mike decided to detail the Jeep a bit. I, on the other hand, just enjoyed the view. I think you can understand why ;-)
... then I can have the strength to get a damn tattoo!! When I got up from the table to look at it in the mirror I cried instantly. I truly believe mom is my angel and now she really will be on my shoulder forever. I’m very grateful that my 2 friends shared this unforgettable special moment with me. It felt very fitting that I got it done at a shop a few blocks away from where mama brought me into the world at Sycamore Hospital…
... Josie brings us nothing but pure joy every single day. She wakes up with a smile and is ready to play from the word "go." It took a little time to get her up to speed on her new time zone (of course, it took several days for Dana and I to catch up too!)
The long flight home went extremely well. (Thank you baby Robitussen.) Josie's ears were not bothered at all and she slept a great deal of the time. And, ...
