Ipswich, Queensland, Australia cjradloff76... arrive in my pine plantation, or how far it was from here to Goulburn, so in the end, that plan would have been utterly impractical. God, however, knew this, so instead, He arranged for my single serve dinner the night before to turn into Leftovers, kept said Leftovers cold all day while they sat in a hot car in the sun, and thus did some planning ahead of His own so I could have chicken and salad for dinner in a pine plantation. As for ...
Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia wayfaring... and the superb views from Govetts Leap overlooking Grose valley. Went on another short dirt track adventure to Mount Blackheath and my final stop in the Blue Mountains was Hargraves lookout. All offering amazing views of this unique mountain range. Really pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my brief stay in the Blue Mountains, must push on though. Passed through Lithrow on the way to Penrith ...
Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia christospWe were driving back from Canberra and Jon spotted a sign for the Big Merino. Here is the Tourist info provided by Tourism NSW: "The Big Merino (Goulburn, NSW) The Big Merino stands 15 metres high and is a tasteful monument to the area's most popular sheep breed. You'll need to take a detour off the ...
Goulburn, Australia jenkinsAt the end of the main street in Gunning, just before the bridge (on the left), there is a shady FREE camping and picnic area with toilets, water and BBQs, etc. It is a beautiful area beside the very pretty, and well maintained and very clean creek, and it is 100 ...
GUNNING, Australia aussiewanderer... We went on two consecutive days - the second day we went earlier before the day heated up and the animals had found a spot in the sun to spend the day. It must be mentioned here however that the wombat did not move from his chosen hole in the sun on either day. Some of our favourite animals were the busy otters, the slow but friendly giant tortoises, the dozen giraffes limbering up and the huge, happy hippos spending their days floating in the ...
Goulburn, NSW, Australia kathrynandnick... Chris got the number and luckily the van was covered and a very nice man came and fixed it for us. The battery was dead and he said if we were lucky it might start next time we turn it off, if not to call them again. Great. However luck was still on our side and we managed to get to Goulburn without incident and leave the next day woo hooo.
Goulburn, Australia jm_littledevil... on bush - no track to walk on. We had to follow markers on trees whilst scrambling over rocks (avoiding the odd bit of wombat poo) down to a creek. On the way home, we drove along the coast road north up to Sydney and stopped briefly at Seven Mile Beach. As the name implies, 7 miles of white sand and bubbling surf. At one point, we looked in both directions down the beach and couldn't see a soul. It was great to think that we might be the only people standing on the 7 mile stretch.
Southern Highlands, New South Wales, Australia c_s_m_luurtsema... There were normal pay lanes for drivers with hard cash but you didn't have to slow down if you had a tag. I was started to get an idea just how much Sydney residents rely on their vehicles. Along the way Mat pointed out the remnants of Sydney's only theme park - currently closed and awaiting demolition to make way for the largest new motorway intersection in the southern hemisphere. From what I could see of the rollercoaster on the ...
