We drove across Iowa to the Mississippi River – we didn't realize that Iowa was bordered west and east by rivers – who knew? One of the TV shows we enjoy is American Pickers. If you don’t know the show, it is about 2 guys who travel the back roads of America, "picking" old barns and warehouses for what to most looks like junk but to them ...

... seen before...a camera is mounted on top of the plane and you can kind of see what the pilots see. The food is amazing. When the attendant came by to take my order, I asked for some bread as an appetizer. She told me I didn't need to choose an appetizer, then they brought me one of everything on the menu! I had to try a bite of each one. My entree just arrived and there is no way I could eat one more bite. I thought we ate a lot in the US! I realized ...

... a plate of curry wurst, or even the potato pancakes could stop us from slowly getting so cold we had to come home. Paddy and Terry had been planning to go to a jazz club. We were so glad of that cup of tea when we got home.

The temperature was -8, feels like -16, and I had planned to take beautiful photos, but I couldn't leave my gloves off long enough for a decent one, even using the auto setting. Expecting more overnight snow.

... large amount of offensive production for a baseball game. We saw the Cubs score 5 runs in the first inning, including a grand slam home run by rookie Junior Lake. We also saw two more home runs and two RBIs by a pitcher. Overall, it was a very entertaining baseball game and a nice, relaxing afternoon. Plus, the Cubs won 8-5, which is always good for the mood. Rating - 9 of 10.
