Two days on the Great Ocean Road south west of Melbourne. Ship wreck coast, London Bridge, Loch Arde, Twelve apostles.

Day 30 - Friday, 30th November, 2012
After a quick look around Port Fairy, which was a nice little town, I hit the road and headed in the direction of the Great Ocean Road.
I first stopped off at Warrnambol, which is a large town on the coast and headed for a McDonalds in order to try and get a blog posted. But I had no luck as there still wasn't any WiFi. Apparently ...
Australia via Singapore
... and sleep. Unfortunately there was a hiccup with our van (we were told the one due in for us to collect had been involved in an accident) and a replacement was not ready until after 3pm. I think the one they gave us had been retired and was hauled out of mothballs as it is really old and worn. We are just hoping it is mechanically sound.
Whilst awaiting the van we took a tram ride around Melbourne and had lunch, but as soon as we were mobile we headed for a site ...
The Sow and Piglets?
... of limestone standing between the mainland and a stack just offshore. Apparently there were some similarities to the original bridge in London. Not that I could tell as the arch collapsed in 1990 leaving only another stack stranded in the ocean... So the tour was a constant getting on the bus and getting off it again at yet another location. But at least its a no hassle, no worry where to go next and enough time was provided to have a good look ...

... and had a delightful dinner.
Tuesday morning we got going early and drove back to the 12 Apostles. On the way we stopped and did the walk into Loch Ard Gorge, named after the Loch Ard that sank there in 1878. On the walk to the cliff we could hear the sound of crashing water but not see anything. There is an opening about 400m inland from the end of the gorge that in really high seas is a blow hole, but on a normal day is it acts as an amplifier of the sound of the water. ...
