... the way back to the river. First stop will be Memphis, and following the river will add a couple if hours to the trip, but this ain't about direct!

The river is busy! Lots of commercial activity, hundreds, no, thousands of barges, lining the banks and being rafted together and pushed with the river tugs. The first 100 miles or so up to Baton Rouge is ...

Easy flight this morning. Out of Lawrenceburg at 07:00 (wanted to get off at 06:00, but Hey, I'm retired!) and landed at Dexter, MO (KDXE) at about 9:30. Lots of cumulus clouds (can you say Bumpy!) building to the west so Dexter for the night, it is. Good spot, as in friendly western hospitality, and the clincher is a RESTURANT! on the field adjacent to the pilots lounge! I may never leave! Crossed the mighty Mississippi at about 09:00, so I guess I'm officially "out ...

There are several boat launches but not many beaches. We do find a shallow inlet where some pike are breeding. Not much else so see. This lake seems deserted, but very pretty and inviting. The water here is murky, probably from the clay bottom.

It is nice to just get out and walk for a while. The weather is hot; around 27 ...

We have really been enjoying these COE Parks - $12/night for full hookups is hard to beat! Just a couple days' stop here, catching up on laundry and shopping before we head for our friends' Gary & Kathy's house near St. Louis on Thursday.

... wet, miserable and tired. We were trying to find the hotel and the instructions were taking us round the houses. David shoots off the wrong way up the main road and I have no pace to follow. We are just metres away from the hotel so I carry on. Trouble is, David doesn't know which hotel we are in! All was resolved in the end but for a while he was "Not 'appy".

          It's amazing ...
