... the herbs off the flying bridge to keep them from freezing. We don't mind because it makes the enclosed bridge smell heavenly. We are kicking back right now with the wind howling, the boat rocking and the water slapping. It feels nice and cozy. While it was too windy to travel today we are determined to leave tomorrow and find warmer climates. Our goal is to lock down both Wheeler Dam and then Wilson Dam and spend the night on Pickwick Lake. Hopefully it will be smooth cruising.

We soon left behind the hills and mountains as the Tennessee River coursed through Alabama. During this portion of the journey, the river was wide and flat but meandered pleasantly for many, many miles. There was very little in the way of wind or boat ...

We had another 6 hours to go before getting to our campsite near New Orleans. When we arrived it was about 7 pm. We set up camp, Hugh and Matt played on the play structure and explored while I fixed dinner.
All in all it was a good day, long drive but we made it.

As they are now both speaking entirely in acronyms I'm not quite sure what it entailed. it seems there were flight simulators (F-16, F-15, and F-18) with planned hops like in top Gun. There were evasion manoeuvres that make capture the flag ...
