... made our next destination, Bundaberg.

Bundaberg is famous for it’s rum distillery, a big visitor attraction. We stopped and took a photo of the Big Rum Bottle, took a quick trip around the shop but resisted buying anything, and headed off to take a photo of the Big Barrel at the Ginger Beer making factory; this was an extra big thing added to our list by the very helpful woman at the tourist info! Bundaberg was a busy but characterful town with ...

... to drive our Kombi into Riverside Drive.

The next few days we were busy with getting repairs done to the pop top fibreglass- the upholsterer accidentely screwed right through it when he was attaching the pop top canvas.
We got some seat covers made up for the pups, which worked out a failure as they left black marks all over the seats! Chris fitted the down lights thanks to Brad's help and his ...

Heading North.

... time we pitched camp at Gladstone we decided that it wasn't terribly fair on Steven to spend another two days in the car and there were reports of monsoon weather coming over from the Bay of Carpentaria to the east coast. There had been some major flooding on the Queensland and Northern Territories border already. Decision therefore made to start heading back south tomorrow - in short journeys! We stayed at a motel in ...

... was the Botanical Gardens which had a little zoo with a few animals. We stopped off at the chimps enclosure and this chimp climed up a ladder so he was directly in front of me and then spat straight at me! Oh my god how gross, Loz couldn't stop laughing and was just annoyed that he hadn't got a picture of it, after this I wasn't that impressed with the zoo so we went into the gardens for a walk instead. Then we ...

Driving North Again

... like 25 km's off the highway just to see this place. I had been told to visit it by a diver I had meet in passing in Sydney airport. Her thought's hsf brrn it was the prettiest place in Aus. Impressions of Noosa,(photo) pretty, upmarket very upmarket for Aus and quite crowded, though I still managed to find a parking space on the high street. Noosa is also rather upmarket for Aus, not the normal beach side resort. A quick lunch then off up north as far as I could go, I ...

... at Halse Lodge YHA in Noosa Heads which is a GREAT hostel with it's own (cheap) bar and bistro, and even a welcome talk and free glass of wine like a holiday camp! It is a bit pricier than other hostels though, but worth it! It was really humid on our first day so we headed down to Main Beach for some late afternoon sunshine and sea breeze and generally chilled out, later sampling the food and wine back at the hostel! On our second day in Noosa it was ...

... doing lesser things, but the trip wasn't without experiences and the random aspect added to the intrigue. On the first day of driving my accelerator cable decided to come apart whilst I was driving up hill. We had to tie that together with string for the next 2 days. Then the supposed 4x4 car decided it would just be a 2 wheel drive for us, meaning we kept getting stuck in the deep sand and had to push it out every time. All this added to the fun though, and whilst some of the other ...

... along a beach with the sea on your right, more scenic than the M1 anyway! Have to watch out for creeks though, i take one a little too fast, don't think the Dutch were too impressed with that, still no harm done! We visit a ship wreck then take in a viewing point from which you can see Whales, Dolphins and Sharks in the water, don't see Whales but see a Dolphin and a Shark. (by the way you cant swim in the sea here due to sharks, jelly fish etc) Set up camp in the evening ...

UNLUCKY SPURS!!!

Hi people, Teddy Sheringham did his best by scuffing his penalty (remember that conversation a few weeks ago Ashley B?), but still, as per usual with football, the mighty Arsenal came out on top! This one goes down in the history books up there with Sol Campbells transfer and winning the league at the Lane. Anyway, back to Australlia. From Sydney we went up to Byron Bay, which was basically an ultra nice holiday resort. We had a room of 8 ...
