... Gate. Every evening in Menin the road leading through the gate is closed to traffic and crowds of people gather to participate in a ceremony of remembrance for those who fell during the First World War and whose remains were not located or identified. The ceremony was very moving and when we were there there was a group of Canadian Cadets on a tour who marched in the wreath laying at the gate.

... the Flybe staff admitted we would never have connected with anyway; our luggage didn’t turn up in time for our rescheduled 12pm flight so we arrived in Paris with only our hand luggage. It was like this for the following 8 days!
