... building a house there. Pa also had a store in town that they ran
from when they first moved there, they moved into the store during a
terrible winter that lasted 8 months and where the 80 residents of
the town almost starved to death. Snow lasts a long time in South
Dakota.

... the exit I felt a little queasy! ... Went to the washroom & was sick, thought I should get to my hotel as quickly as possible. Stopped at ATM to get some U.S. Cash & then got a taxi right away. ... what it was...) So there! Sioux Falls sits on billion year old quartzite, which was once covered by a mile thick glacier. Now a days the exposed rock bed makes for a lovely waterfall park in the center of town. We saw (and smelled) the Hormel plant nearby and elected not to take a tour.
