... what it was...) So there! Sioux Falls sits on billion year old quartzite, which was once covered by a mile thick glacier. Now a days the exposed rock bed makes for a lovely waterfall park in the center of town. We saw (and smelled) the Hormel plant nearby and elected not to take a tour. Today Gary and I went to the Pipestone National Park to see where the Indians mined for red stone. They still mine this today and make the traditional pipes.
