Batemans Bay to Nowra

Hello Batemans bay - Back to the coast to follow it all the way up to Sydney. Batemans bay is really nice . We stayed on the best campsite yet. I was an expert on campsites before but now I definately have the knowledge!! We decided to have a go at fishing in the sea here so we hired a rod and bought some bait. We thought we could combine our experience which isn't much and have a good go. We did have a good go and got it ...

Batemans Bay and and Around

... beaches and countryside, tranquil, hot, blue sky, like a picture book. Stayed at Kiama and peered into the famous blowhole.. Then up to Wollongong and visited the largest Buddhist temple in southern hemisphere., nourished our spiritual selves. (But Billericay Agnostics Group have no need to worry). Weather deteriorating for the first time in our trip and now heading off to the Blue Mountains.

Trippin' down the south NSW Coast...

... hit the steel works, and then it all made sense! Quickly developing an aversion to such views, reminiscent of those in England, we moved on, beachcombing down the coast. Beyond Warilla we were basking in the glory of flexibility, stopping anywhere that took our fancy. Acting on reccomendations from ...

... money well spent. The ACT Brumbies have their headquarters next door to the AIS, so that was my next stop. For those that dont know the ACT Brumbies are a rugby union siide that compete in the Super 14 competition. They were training whern I arrived and it was near epty so I got to see George Gregan, Stephen Larkham, Jeremy Paul and others going through their paces. Again, if you are not a sports fan you have probably switched off at this stage, but the rugger fans will ...

We have amazing Karma

... both in such a relaxed, tranquil mood. It was perfect. After food, we went upstairs because they apparently have one of the best bars in town. It was ok, but they had a terrible band on. It was a guy doing cover songs with just a keyboard and it was awful. I think that scared some people off. A crazy man came up to us and told us that everyone just starts here; then they go to a place called the Marlin. Sounded good, so we parked the car back at the ...

The beginning of the long goodbyes!

... time at the coast with my grandparents at Tuross. The weather was fantastic and it was really nice to have some rest time (rather than the hectic pace of working life - I think i'll come to enjoy it very much!) I've uploaded some photos of how lovely Tuross is, if any of you ever get the chance to get there - you should! Adios! Rachel

Surf Camp

... world to find the perfect surf? Respectively Yes, No, No. Surfing is very enjoyable, and when you finally catch that wave, and ride it in to the beach, or turn your board to ride along the wave as it breaks, it is a great feeling, but it is also very frustrating, you can sit around and after 10 15 minutes waiting, you see a wave that meets your requirements, so you turn, you paddle, you paddle harder, and then it just dies on you. You turn around to try and see ...

Shabby Shacks and on to Eden

... dollars, so to be honest, our first thoughts as we drove into Shabby Shacks and saw the collection of ramshackle buildings was that the place had shut down many moons ago. Had Rene and I stumbled upon the place on our own, whilst looking for somewhere to stay, I'm certain we wouldn't have even driven in. Luckily though, we weren't on our own and we followed Jim to the bottom of the site where our cabins were located and caught our first view of the turquoise sea, through the ...

Our first visit to the beach

... rosellas and lorikeets. The beach is spectacular, an arch of sand giving way to rugged rocks. There were plenty of tidal pools where you could find all kinds of interesting ocean life. It was a cool day so no dipping our toes in. It is winter after all! We found a nice picnic table and had a visit from a monitor lizard and two kookaburras while having lunch. Other people ...
