First whole day at the Rally in Sturgis. What a busy day! Up at dawn. Hot water, good deal. Love it when the days starts reasonable. OK. Things to remember if I come back. Get a room or at least a site with power. The camping is free, they have showers, but only the real payers have water and power. How.small a generator do they make. Weather has been unbelievably good. No rain. We dodged a Thunderstorm ...

It has to start with a dawn departure. Up before the crack of dawn. Bike prepped the night before, gassed and ready. Why do the tires always need air? It was a nice day to ride. Cool again in the morning, 58 degrees in the lower bottoms. Some fog. But have packed well so far. Put the lining in the jacket until the temp gets to 80, and it's not too bad. Out first stop though was at Gettysburg where the civil war against the confederates and the union took placeIt was such an interesting place to see where the battle was fought and where Lincoln made his famous Gettysburg address after ...

WEDNESDAY 7/2-The closer we get to Iowa the faster the blue skies disappear. There are clouds ahead and hopefully they are only rain clouds and not tornado clouds. Iowa is like Nebraska with corn fields on both sides of the interstate and a lot of older farm houses in the middle. I was wondering about all the corn and found that Iowa is the largest producer of ethanol uses only 1/3 of their corn supply ...

We got an early start and had planned a longer day than normal today. Generally we only travel a couple of hours and then stop for at least a few days. But we are trying to move out of Iowa—the weather forecast is tornados. The weather maps use red as a color to denote severe weather and very likely tornadoes. The forecast for the entire state Iowa has been painted red and we just do not want ...
