... the restroom for me but somehow found electricity if I wanted the giftshop. We passed on dinner there and shared a wonderful package of pringles. We arrived quite late in Khajuarho. The hotel was clean and minimal. Khajuarho is off the beaten path to everywhere. It is near the mines that bring up the fabulous gems of India. The reason to visit is an archaelogical site of many temples that are ...
Khajuarho, Uttar Pradesh, India lbsrds... pretended it didn't happen and made my escape with pink roll of toilet paper hidden under my shirt. I killed that toilet and pretty much destroyed the other. When I used the toilets on trains before I wondered how could someone get **** that high up a wall. Now I know. Cleaning lady I salute you.
12 hours on a train is a long time to feel sick. No i-pod or reading due to nausea. Just staggered sleeping ...

As soon as you hit it you just know!!! suddenly everything just becomes really dirty and smelly again..... Oh the smells...so pungent .... some so sweet, incensce, food...others foul....urine and rotting filth .... I say all this fondly however ... its India, and I love it.........for better or for worse..... nothing can equal it ...
... dressed them up with little bangles and hair bobbles and flowers. We dumped our bags in the haveli and then went for a walk around the tiny village, people coming out to look at us, men on the pavement smoking together and smiling up. A group of elders sharing a hookah outside a small house were completely indifferent to us and I wondered if they felt a bit exploited by us. But mostly we were greeted with the most friendly faces and 'hello' and ...
Perharsar, Rajhastan, Uttar Pradesh, India bettyp... to say 'no', hurridly get our bags out of the taxi and walk away stopped us from being pesterd but backfired an hour later on the bus when we realised we were actually really hungry because we hadn't eaten any breakfast. It definitly was not a tourist bus, stopping every so often to pick up locals. Westeners were moved to the front and sides of the bus so that it 'looked' like a tourist bus. Also told the trip would take 7 hrs, we should have known better ...

All the fellows made slideshows and showed eachother pictures of our lives in our various respective parts of India. The activity was titled "My Life is Like...Whoa," which ...
Lucknow, India explr9... hours of class a day, at least 5 days a week for the first month, in order to really learn the basics. Although I'd love to have that much time to devote to yoga, I'm not sure how feasible this would be for me, especially since work is probably going to pick up and take up more of my time, not to mention that I'm also looking for a Hindi tutor and dance class. I told him that I might not have the time to take class 5 days a week, and I said that I'd decide when I ...
Lucknow - Spanish, India raquel_chiel... He looked a bit quizzical, but we thought that we'd try our luck and got in for the ride into the city center. When we had almost reached what looked to us like the central shopping area, the auto driver pulled over to the side of the road and told us we were here. It didn't seem like we were exactly where we wanted to be, but after unsuccessfully trying to ask the driver to take us a bit further, we just got out and walked down the road towards the shops we saw up ahead ...
Lucknow, India explr9... us his cell phone to call Paula, the NGO's administrative officer, who volunteered to meet us later to take us shopping for some preliminary essentials. Paula told us that she'd allow us to settle in a bit and would come meet us at 12:30pm to go shopping. Paula and JK picked us up at the apartment at around 1:00pm. Paula is a very sweet middle-aged Indian woman and speaks perfect English! She is also a wealth of information, and I know she'll be a great ...
