Well, I am neither happy nor sad. Happy in the fact that he is no longer dealing with this ordeal of Alzheimer’s, a crippling disease, and no way for a person of dignity to leave this earth, sad because it is my last parent.

68 years he and I were on the same earth together, and in retrospect I do not feel I knew him, and I truly believe that he never knew who I was either.

Hello Once Again!

We're in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada this evening, ready to head west into Michigan. It's been another journey for the books, complete with ups and downs, but -- so far -- nothing going seriously wrong. Quebec is on our repeat to-do list, as is Acadia National Park, since the weather was disappointing during our stay there.

Good bye, family, love you

On February 27, 2014, we said goodbye to our family and went to Pete and Dinie Twynstra's to catch our bus to Toronto. We drove bye our house on the way to the 401 and on the picture you can see what the weather looked like. It was quite a blizzard and 401 was closed due to accidents around Woodstock. We did finally get to Toronto, but not in time to make our flight. We were fortunate that all 26 of us could catch another flight to New York where we stayed in a hote overnight.
