    We spent last night in Lincoln. It is halfway between our last stop outside St. Louis, and Chicago.

    After we left Collinsville, we took a detour to Alton, a town on the Missip where there are locks for river boats.
    We spent about an hour watching a barge towing one barge 3 boats wide up the river a tad, then another came into the lock. Once the water level had risen, the gates opened ...

    ... our hovel and had put it to good use. We plan to make it to St Louis today, at least.

    Springfield Illinois - I now have a camera - yay! $79 on sale in Walmart, and a 16g SD card for $14.
    It's a Sony Cybershot and will do the job. In the amazing world of Walmart we also bought a shovel, just in case.
