Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia goontack... Returning, I waked along Newcastle Beach and up to King Edward Park, and did some writing at various points throughout the day. In the evening, the hostel organised a free barbecue at Queen’s Wharf, where I took part in a pub quiz with some Germans, and we called our team Scheisskopf, after the card game which I played in Glebe a lot. I left before the scores were tallied though, as I had a night bus to catch for Port Macquarie.

Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia edtaepn... the place, which we found out was pretty dead! Its not a huge place, but we were expecting a few people to be out on a friday night, but nope, the bars were empty! So we just had a few, then went back to the hostel. On the saturday, the sun was out, so we spent the day at the beach. It was only the locals down there, but finally we had found some people lol. Saturday night we stayed in to ...
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia essexboys... really do check to see if you have a criminal record". Guys were taking bets on how long it would take me to wind up on "Border Patrol", a reality show that follows customs guys deporting people or arresting them for smuggling fruit across the border. I had just put together a letter begging some minister or other for a pardon, when my visa came through with one day left. A record two weeks processing time. The 457 visa has some caveats; I'm no longer on a working holiday. I'm ...

Newcastle, Australia michellemariIt was an early rise to catch the bus to Palm Beach (you and me know it as Summer Bay). Luckily, our bus driver recognised we were tourists and H&A (its what the cool people call it) nuts and asked if us girls wanted to see Summer Bay & told us they were filming (yeay!) (we owe that man a drink as we would have missed a certain PC we were about to bump into!). We headed to the vans and Aimee caught a glimpse of Jack (Paul to us now), I told her that it ...
Palm Beach, Australia sarahandaimeeDay 8: I went to Hillsong Church with the Mangans and it was incredible. It reminded me a lot of the big contemporary churches in Western Michigan and that was fun. I got a free CD and I already have it downloaded to my computer! After church, we went to go cliff jumping into the ocean and then I had to catch another train ...
Nelson, Sydney, Australia littlebitsAfter a cold night, passed cuddled in our sleeping bags, we headed to the coast. At Seal Rocks I could finally swim in the Pacific Ocean: how incredible is that?! Swimming in the middle of winter, I couldn't believe it. We spent the night in Newcastle at Zander's place, an old friend from Delft. It was nice to catch up with him and finally speak some Italian with somebody. He cooked a delicious Cottage pie and the night passed by with some glasses of Australian wine.
Newcastle, Australia wamba... my email, read some news, and read in our room for awhile, as it was much quieter. Jim came back and said he had a great time and loved scuba diving. We got new roommates too: Fiona and David from Scotland - finally someone not from England. This place is packed with Brits. We talked with them for awhile. They were so nice. After a pasta dinner, we just hung out in the lounge reading. Mon. Feb. 26 We both woke up early this morning. After Jim called his Mom, we grabbed ...
