Just grabbed breakfast at McDonald's and gas after 2 hours on the road already. Stayed in Knoxville TN. It's been a wet and beautiful drive so far this morning. Of course it's just now daylight and starting to rain. We can tell we have gone north as we started out about 68 when we left hotel and by the time we stopped for gas we were all digging our sweaters out of the trunk. It is now 57 and dropping. ...

... the home is minimal; hope they don't bother Emily -- that's a lot of hope. And what would a road trip be without barbecue? We stumbled onto a family-run hole-in-the-wall place (Eatz on Moore Street) which happened to serve a nice sliced pork sandwich. Patty was drawn more to the meatloaf. Good stuff. We had a nice chat with the owner/manager who had time on his hands -- it was a quiet night in this little place. Tennessee ...

We are looking forward to our vacation adventure. We started out this afternoon headed out West! Bobby and I have always talked about doing this trip but never took the time. We are heading out for 17 days of adventure. Our friends, Keith and Brenda (best travel buddies in the world) are going with usp. We are taking our truck and camper. Our goal is to drive as far as possible tonight, tomorrow and part of Sunday. We want to start sight ...

... went through tunnels in Virginia. Toll roads in West Virginia total $2.40. I struggled to find exact change since I still have pounds and euros in my wallet. We passed a truck fire, a convertible that looked like Laura Holt's car from "Remington Steele", a hot air balloon, and the winner for the most interesting license plate: OMGROBOT. All in all, a good first leg of the trip. We'll be taking a different route home, through Cleveland and Kentucky. For now, ...
