Arrived for a one night stay. Receptionist was pleasant and checked us in promptly. Room was excellent and very clean. Hotel is located right behind a shopping mall so that could be convenient for some people.
Receptionist gave us directions to several restaurants. Would stay here again as the hotel is very clean and bed comfortable.

The Lodge itself looked pretty spooky, so much so that it was used as the location for the hotel in the movie "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson.

The mountain is snow capped all year around and was closed for skiing due to the inclement weather...took a couple of snaps and headed off on our way to Washington State.

... It was warm, but buggy, and the noise from the highway and the railway was LOUD! I thought I'd never sleep, but instead, I never heard anything! Slept great...thanks to new pads from REI.

Today, rather than beeline for Portland, we took a detour around Mt. Hood in order to go through Rhododendron, where son Connor lived for a couple of months last year. He was helping to renovate a pizza place there...from what we could see, it still ...

... real time estimates of the wait times to be treated. This was rather interesting as in some areas the hospitals were using the highway billboards to show that their service is faster in an emergency. Again, maybe they knew something about the driving risks in the area that we did not.

As for a few statistics of note, we put 8, 818 miles on the RV over the 59 days that we were gone. We added 1,626 miles on the Jeep that we towed as a ...

... The one we visited was so big that you could walk through it and had great patterns on the walls. For 1.3 miles we walked over mounds of rubble and even had to climb an 8 foot wall through pitch blackness with only our torches for light, it was great! Sophie also went into the cave and found it ...

... National Park and over the mountains on "Going to the Sun Road". Once over this pass I will hook up with US Hwy. 2 across Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Once in Wisconsin I will hang a right towards Chicago. A few days or more in Chicago to visit with family then I will continue southwest towards St. Louis, MO. for a few days, or more, visit with my buddy, "Night Train", Robert Thompson and his bride Tai. Robert bought me ...
