Arrived for a one night stay. Receptionist was pleasant and checked us in promptly. Room was excellent and very clean. Hotel is located right behind a shopping mall so that could be convenient for some people.
Receptionist gave us directions to several restaurants. Would stay here again as the hotel is very clean and bed comfortable.

    ... at the time.

The Lodge itself looked pretty spooky, so much so that it was used as the location for the hotel in the movie "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson.

The mountain is snow capped all year around and was closed for skiing due to the inclement weather...took a couple of snaps and headed off on our way to Washington State.

... and the convocation got quite deep into politics and religion but was a great chat. As we got near we realised the Cinema we had planned to go to was actually an indie film cinema and wasn’t showing X-Men, we searched around but had found everywhere had moved their midnight showing to around 10pm which was too early for us to make so instead of settling at the RV camp we decided instead to carry on to until we got tired, so carried on for ...

Day 1 - Vancouver, BC - Castle Rock, WA

The wheels of our "swagger wagon" start going round and round at 7 am, as scheduled. At the border, there is a mere forty-five minute wait. We're off to a dream start! The reggae playing on the stereo accentuates our happy groove as we slowly awaken to the fact that our long anticipated road trip is finally happening.

But it only takes until our first rest stop, ...

... Nick and Jane’s place was a great respite from the road. They live outside of Battle Ground, Washington on a little over three acres of land. Their house is large and beautiful, overlooking the pond with deck and gazebo. Three ducks, two dogs, one cat and the three birds in the kitchen round out the menagerie. Jane and Nick grow lots of their own food, eat fresh duck eggs and Nick occasionally brews his own beer.

    Packing

A travel blog entry by livelaughtravel on Jun 19, 2012

Jared and I have both traveled all over the world and we are often asked what we pack. This morning my bag weighed in at whopping 16lbs. Jared's at 20lbs. Even we chuckle at the simplicity with which we have begun this trip and we look forward to seeing if our packing skills will hold up over the course of them next three weeks. Since so frequently asked, ...
