Arrived for a one night stay. Receptionist was pleasant and checked us in promptly. Room was excellent and very clean. Hotel is located right behind a shopping mall so that could be convenient for some people.
Receptionist gave us directions to several restaurants. Would stay here again as the hotel is very clean and bed comfortable.

The Lodge itself looked pretty spooky, so much so that it was used as the location for the hotel in the movie "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson.

The mountain is snow capped all year around and was closed for skiing due to the inclement weather...took a couple of snaps and headed off on our way to Washington State.

We enjoyed a quick dinner at the famous food truck court and then headed for our B&B - The Farm at Sunset Ridge. We found it through AirBNB.com and it is wonderful. Amaya is our host and is quite the gardener. Our pictures show only part of what she has growing - there's another garden that contains lettuce, rhubarb, broccoli, chard, and more! She also has an orchard (mostly pears, some apples) and raspberry ...

... I-5. It's all about making good time today. The road is parallel to the pretty Umpqua River, with its glass sheen looking so calm and serene. I see many a small boat sitting motionless in the middle of the river, its passengers looking equally static and peaceful. We pass by elk grazing in the grass at one of the reserves.

When we arrive back at Seaquest in the late afternoon, we're rewarded with a wallet still containing $25CAD and a premium ...

... by a barbeque on the deck beside the pond. The dogs and ducks provided entertainment chasing each other back and forth. Jane would throw a stick into the pond for the dog to fetch and the male duck would attack him as the tried to retrieve it, all in good fun of course. Every now and then the cat would join in by chasing the dogs….poor dogs don’t have a chance. Off to bed in the guest room to rest up for tomorrow’s trip north up through the Cascade ...
