Arrived for a one night stay. Receptionist was pleasant and checked us in promptly. Room was excellent and very clean. Hotel is located right behind a shopping mall so that could be convenient for some people.
Receptionist gave us directions to several restaurants. Would stay here again as the hotel is very clean and bed comfortable.

The Lodge itself looked pretty spooky, so much so that it was used as the location for the hotel in the movie "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson.

The mountain is snow capped all year around and was closed for skiing due to the inclement weather...took a couple of snaps and headed off on our way to Washington State.

The Next morning we got up and although to begin with the Stop had been a little noisy, I had slept like a baby so felt rather refreshed in the morning. On the drive down to Mt St Helens, because of the difference in speed up the hills between ...

... but maybe It will give you a better sense of who I am as a human. I would also like to convey to you the Zen-like feeling I get when traveling alone with nothing but my thoughts on an empty country road, miles from the safety and comfort of my TV and couch. I will be starting my journey from home in Battle Ground, WA. and travel up the Columbia River Gorge to Kennewick, WA where I will hook up with the Snake River. From there I will ...

... ready to give it back. Shane warned to ignore it because they all carry guns here! Apparently the state trooper was on holidays and his patrol car was parked up in the driveway the whole time we were there. They get to take their patrol cars home! Only in America. On the way into St Helen's, we saw the beautiful Columbia River. This area is the heart and sole of logging country and we were amazed at the amount of logs, trucks and ships ...
