Exploring Ithaca

... City with me sometime next week but sadly I don't think it’s going to happen. Had burgers for dinner (at Five Guys, Burgers and Fries) and then popped into Barnes and Noble to use their free wi-fi, still no internet at home till tomorrow. Was pretty late when we left so had a snack when we got in and a little more TV. It’s such a relief to have real tea, wasn’t sure how I was going to cope!

First real day in America

We'd agreed on a slow start this week while I’m recovering from such a long trip so had a nice cooked breakfast and then headed out to the supermarket to pick up some food and use the free wi-fi (internet won’t get hooked up till Thursday). I was most amused to find that in the foreign food aisle they had an Irish ...

He wound me up a little that I’m visiting a guy when I have a boyfriend back at home but was generally pretty cool.

Made it to my next flight after a bit of a rush to locate my bags and then I was off to Syracuse. Both sides of the river are developed, and there are several bridges across the river.

First Night had dinner at Pudgies Pizza, greasy pizza and surprisingly good.

Dirt roads, wine and gorges

Day 2 began with a fabulous breakfast at the inn with a choice between an egg souffle or lemon waffles, a walk and then off to the wineries. Google maps only led us astray slightly from Downers Grove to Ithaca but the route it took us to the wineries was certainly unusual.

We started out on a normal state road that led us past the Tauqhannock State Park with its 250 foot falls. We made a quick detour because I had seen a ...

Christen and Robie left the museum, went to the bookstore/gift shop, and returned half an hour later, and STILL had to drag Bri out so that they could go to the next attraction before running out of town.
- Bri learned that Maria Shriver founded the Special Olympics. ... his wine tours in Ithaca. Lynette and David, the innkeepers, were gracious and saw to our every need and then some. The inn itself is fabulous. They opened 10 years ago and have been hit ever since. Their breakfasts are creative culinary at its best and their desserts are "to die for." ... course, we only got pictures of the old ones). My father loved the football stadium. The whole campus was very busy, with lots of cars and people everywhere. Too big for me, but the dorms and living arrangements are interesting-there are many options to choose from, such as living in a themed house with international students and bunking in a ...

Lucifer Falls

... 80 metres below the plateau level, and you just look down this immense sculpted cavern, with rees growing thickly right to the edge of the cliffs. It takes no effort at all to imagine partie of Indians coming over the cliff and own to the stream to fish, or raid or hunt. The walk path follows the edge of the stream, which has carved these square baisins out of the rock, incuding ledges that tempt one to sit and dangle the feet. In some cases, round pools with under water ...
