... Smierci zawdziecza swoja nazwe poszukiwaczom zlota, którzy w XIX wieku szukali tu schronienia przed burzami snieznymi w gorach Sierra Nevada, lecz zamiast schronienia znalezli smierc. My jednak pelni optymizmu zaladowalismy walizki i zapasy jedzenia oraz picia do samochodu i ruszylismy w droge. Pierwszy dluzszy postoj zaliczylismy przy Badwater, najnizej polozonym punkcie na polkuli polnocnej (85 m ponizej poziomu ...
Ridgecrest, California, United States wrodar... The four of us have spent about 8 hours a day for two days on the road together. We should reach Black Rock, AZ which is outside of Salome, AZ tomorrow evening. Now that I've had a chance to wind down from making sure everything fits together for our move I'm getting excited about the USVI. Grandma's teaching me how to play pinochle though so I can whoop some butt when we get to Black Rock. TTYS!!
Inyokern, California, United States ashleyandustinHello all, We made it to the desert! Tomorrow we will go into the Death Valley and onto Vegas on Monday. Given the distances and that it is Columbus Day weekend (even though Columbus was never close to US) we are taking precautions and getting closer. We also avoided camping as there are strong winds. Not much to add today...just a drive and rest day. Cheerio
Ridgecrest, California, United States roadster76... many thanks to Franc. All of my friends and loved ones for e-mailing and keeping up with my travels and spending time reading my dribble. Just knowing somebody was reading this made all the internet cafe time worthwhile. And also a huge thanks to my grandfather, whose past generosity made affording this trip possible, and who I've missed for years. Time to figure out what I want to do when I grow up and go find a job doing it. Wish me luck....
Ridgecrest, California, United States g_shook... bugged me as person is a person as far as i am concerned! After this we caught another bus to santa monica (the famous pier with the carnival) We caught a different bus on the way back and had to change buses. When we got off we saw a girl who was staying in our dorm at the hostel on the corner. She had just been to the .99c store (i suppose equivant to the 2.00 shop in melbourne.)
Los Angeles, California, United States ilovetravel0... for the bus. So by now it was time for my favourite game.... thats right, guess which bus to get, so after much deliberation i decided on the obvious choice.... the one nearest me!!!! So we sat there for an age and shortly along came the bus, we boarded and before to long found ourselves in beverly hills. Now from our research we knew the glitz was on Rodeo Drive... so it just remained for us to find our way from the bus stop to there..... simple???? So we headed towards the ...
Los Angeles, California, United States neilandamy... very best! We loved that place! Best drinking water: New Zealand alpine meadow streams--fresh, crisp water to bottle or wet your boots. [Worst water: most any SE Asian country--stick your bottled NZ water!] Best place to get away from it all: Cobourg Peninsula, Northern Territory, Australia. You'll scream and cry and NO ONE will hear you, let alone care. Best adrenaline rush: Queenstown, New Zealand, where you can bungy jump, sky jump, paraglide, body board down rapids, or pick a ...
Los Angeles, California, United States cherylandreza... Lake Isabella, The trail of 100 giants, there was a horse rescue in town where we could go to feed them carrots and what not, and some fun summer events that Ridgecrest held such as th Wine walk. They had the Star wars Guys there the one year. It was great. I also went up to Bakersfield quite often and through Red Rock Canyon which is geourgeous~! Of course there was also a lot of interesting Test and evaluation in China Lake. And I attended a lot of ...
